Happy reading^^

Percy Jackson is a twelve year old boy diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia, who has been expelled from several schools. On a trip with his mother, his friend Grover, revealed to be a satyr, urgently tells Percy's mother that Percy must go to a certain camp. As they drive towards camp, they are attacked by a Minotaur which grabs Percy's mother. She dissolves into a golden shower of light. Percy and Grover are nearly to the tree that marks the camp boundary, when the Minotaur charges. Percy slays the Minotaur by removing one of its horns and stabbing it.

Percy later wakes up and discovers that he has arrived in Camp Half-Blood, a secretive training ground for demigods. Percy is moved into the Hermes cabin (where all unclaimed demigods are sent) under the care of Luke, the Cabin counselor. During a Capture the Flag game, Percy is attacked by the children of Ares. He heals when he steps into the adjoining river and Poseidon claims Percy as his son. Poseidon's green trident appears glowing above his head.

Poseidon had broken an oath taken with Hades and Zeus after World War II not to have any more children, because the prophecy given by the Oracle of Delphi. It stated that a child of one of the Big Three gods (Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades) would make a decision on their sixteenth birthday that would either save or destroy Olympus. Percy then is granted a quest, to find Zeus' master bolt which was supposedly stolen by Hades. Because Zeus finds out that Poseidon has broken his oath, he believes Poseidon had Percy steal his Master Bolt.

Percy, accompanied by two friends, Annabeth and Grover, has 10 days to find it before the summer solstice.[2] Luke gives him winged shoes for the trip, but Percy lets Grover wear them instead. Percy decides to travel west to reach the entrance to the Underworld in Los Angeles. As they travel west, they encounter the Chimera in the St. Louis Arch, a hotel of Lotus Flowers in Las Vegas, and others.[2] Near their destination, the war god Ares gives Percy and Annabeth new clothing and backpacks to replace their travel-worn clothes. Ares also tells Percy that his mother is alive.

As they approach the pit of Tartarus, Luke’s shoes try to pull Grover into the pit, but he manages to slip his hooves free. Percy confronts Hades who also believes Percy stole the Master Bolt as well as his Helm of Darkness. Percy realizes that Ares has tricked him when he discovers the bolt in the backpack Ares gave him. He flees from the Underworld, forced to leave his mother behind. Percy then fights and defeats Ares by hurting the god's heel. Ares gives Percy the Helm of Darkness which Percy returns to Hades. Percy flies to New York City to give the master bolt to Zeus before the deadline. Olympus is now located at the top of the Empire State Building. Zeus accepts the master bolt, but warns Percy never to enter his domain (the skies) again. Percy returns to camp, after learning that his mother is alive. He meets Luke, who reveals that he stole the bolt for Kronos. He calls out a poisonous scorpion which stings and nearly kills Percy. Chiron cures him and Percy leaves to attend another school founded by his mother.
